Gay & Lesbian Center Grand Opening

Gay Vegas is invited to attend The Gay & Lesbian Center Grand Opening and ribbon cutting on April 6, 2013 at 10 AM.  The Non Profit is officially opening the doors to the new Robert L Forbuss Building located for a ribbon cutting at 401 S Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event is open to the public with political dignitaries making a special appearance.   The festivities will include Sen. Harry Reid, U.S. Rep Dina Titus and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and several other elected officials and major donors.

The grand opening event will be hosted by The Gay and Lesbian Center Board of Directors, staff members and the  Executive Director, Candice Nichols.  Food will be provided by Bronze Café who will also host a cafe inside the new facility.  A local downtown vedor, Sweet Spot Candy Shop, will offer sweet treats during the event.

Gay Vegas members are encouraged to stop by and take a tour the new facility during the event and learn about The Center’s new programs and services.  The new Gay & Lesbian Center building is over 16,000 square feet and was build to meet the needs of the new programs. The Center currently hosts several youth and senior groups and twice a week provides HIV/AIDS testing through a grant from Southern Nevada Health District.

The Robert L Forbuss Building is located in Downtown Las Vegas and is apart of the Downtown renovation project taking place over the past several years that was fueled by Zappos.  The New building project started in August 2011 and more than three Million dollars was raised by corporate and individual donors. The project will to ensure that services offered by The Gay & Lesbian Center will continue over the next twenty years.
